Hockey Training Facilities. Built on Synthetic Ice.

Add a year-round training room inside your arena, or build a standalone off-ice hockey training center. Global Synthetic Ice panels give players a surface for skating, stickhandling, shooting and goalie work in their own hockey skates — no ice time needed.

Two Ways to Build a Hockey Training Facility

Inside Your Rink

Arena Training Rooms

Turn an unused room, mezzanine or storage area into a synthetic ice training room. Players keep training while the main sheet is booked.

Shooting & Stickhandling Lanes

Turn spare floor space into lanes built for high-repetition shooting, passing and puck handling.

Goalie Training Areas

A dedicated space for crease movement — butterfly slides, push-offs and post-to-post work — away from team practice.

Standalone Off-Ice Facilities

Off-Ice Training Centers

Convert warehouse, flex or retail space into a full hockey training center, with a skating area, shooting lanes and room for dryland training.

Private Coaching Studios

Compact spaces for skills coaches running one-on-one and small- group lessons. Build to the footprint you have.

Club & Academy Facilities

Hockey clubs, academies and school programs that want their own surface for skill sessions between on-ice practices.

Train Every Skill, Every Day

Ice time is expensive and hard to book. A synthetic ice training area gives players the repetitions a team practice rarely has time for — between practices, in the off-season, and whenever the main sheet isn’t available.

Panels That Lock Together as One Surface

Global Synthetic Ice panels connect with a multi-directional lock. More surface connections mean vertical and horizontal seams are both strong, so the rink expands and contracts as one piece.

Hockey Training Facility Questions

Answers to the questions rink operators, coaches and training center owners ask most.

How much does a hockey training facility cost?

Every facility is different, so pricing is quoted directly for your space and goals. Send us your dimensions and how you plan to train, and we’ll put together a quote.

How big does a training area need to be?

Panels come as 4' x 4' or 4' x 8', and we build to any dimensions — from a single shooting lane to a full training rink.

Can we put a training area inside our existing rink?

Yes. Unused rooms, mezzanines, lobbies and storage areas all work. A synthetic ice training room lets players and coaches keep working while the main sheet is booked.

Who installs the panels?

Your team does, backed by our design help, technical support and 25+ years of rink experience. If you’d like Global Synthetic Ice to handle the installation, see Custom Facilities.

What comes with the panels?

Panels are quoted on their own. Boards, netting, goals, lighting, subfloor and training aids are all available à la carte — you choose what you want and we quote it. Layout design help and technical support come with every project. A mallet for assembly is not supplied.

What warranty comes with the panels?

A 7-year manufacturing defect warranty — and no customer has ever filed a warranty claim. Full warranty terms are on our Resources page.

Do you offer financing for training facilities?

Yes. Financing for hockey training facilities is available through our partner company. Ask about it when you request your quote.

Is this the same surface as Super-Glide SLICK?

Yes. Global Synthetic Ice are the makers of Super-Glide SLICK. On this site we simply call them Global Synthetic Ice panels.
