For cities, parks & corporate events

Municipal Synthetic Ice Rinks. Built to Run All Season.

Turnkey synthetic ice rinks for plazas, parks and downtowns. No refrigeration plant, no water hookup, no ice crew. Tell us about your site and we’ll design the layout for free.

Put a Rink Where Your City Gathers

A municipal synthetic ice rink is a boarded skating rink built from interlocking polymer panels you skate on with regular ice skates, with no water and no refrigeration. Global Synthetic Ice rinks are sized to your site and install on any flat, stable base: asphalt, concrete, pavers, decking or, with a subfloor, grass. These are the places cities turn into ice most often.

Downtown Plazas

Give the square a reason to stay lit after dinner. Shape the rink around trees, fountains and storefronts.

Parks & Rec Fields

Open a rink where the ball fields are. Pack it down and store it when the season turns.

Parking Lots

Asphalt is a fine base. Add boards, fencing and lights, and an empty lot becomes the busiest spot in town.

Festivals & Events

Tree lightings, markets, fairgrounds and corporate events. The rink is the centerpiece and comes back out every year.

Warm-Weather Cities

Skating that doesn’t depend on the forecast. The surface doesn’t melt, so a warm week doesn’t close you.

Museums & Centers

Children’s museums, science centers, community centers, even indoor arenas. If the base is flat and hard, it can be a rink.

Why Cities Choose Synthetic Ice

Built for a municipal budget and a municipal calendar. Safe, durable, and light on upkeep.

No Ice Plant

No refrigeration, water or power for the skating surface. No chiller to buy, no glycol lines, nothing to resurface.

Any Weather

A thaw, a rain day or a mild December doesn’t cancel sessions. Your season is as long as you want to staff it.

Staff-Run

Parks and events crews open, close and clean it. We train them at install. No refrigeration technician on payroll.

Yours to Keep

One purchase comes back out every season. Take it down, store it flat, put it out next winter.

Any Size. Any Shape. Built to Your Site.

Build any dimensions or shape your site calls for, from a rectangle in a parking lot to a rounded sheet in a park to a loop through a square.

We don’t sell fixed rink sizes. Your site decides the size, and your free layout shows exactly how it fits.

Made by People Who Run Rinks

We make the panels, set the rink and run our own, so we know what a busy Saturday asks of one: the sessions, the staffing, the queues, the cleanup. Your layout is built around how your city will actually use it.

Sized to Your Site

One Surface. A Schedule That Fills It.

Ask us how we block our own sessions. It’s usually the difference between a rink that pays for itself and one that sits empty on weekday afternoons.

A Rink Your City Can Rent to Corporate Events

Company holiday parties, client events, brand activations and team buyouts all want something people remember. The same panels run in pro-arena plazas and city squares alike. A rink on your plaza, park or fairground gives them one, and gives your city a new revenue line.

Sock Skating Is the Newest Trend.

Sock skating is the newest trend in skating, and it’s huge at children’s museums and science centers. Our seamless design is what makes it work: a smooth, continuous surface that lets our ice be the best on the market for sock skating. No renting skates, sizing, lacing or sharpening, so more people say yes to a first visit.

Sock skating is its own session type, so you can sell it alongside regular skate time.

Paying for It Is Part of the Plan

Sponsor-Ready Boards

Board graphics and sponsor panels are a standard option, and a common way for cities to offset the cost of the rink.

A Schedule That Earns

Public skate, lessons, rentals and events. We’ll share how we’ve filled our own rinks.

The Municipal Rink Planner

A free, council-ready checklist covering site requirements, program planning, funding ideas and the questions to ask any vendor.

Questions From Cities

Do we have to freeze or flood it?

No. There’s no water, no refrigeration and nothing to resurface. It skates as delivered, and your crew follows the care routine we train them on at install.

What happens when it's warm?

The surface doesn’t melt, so a warm spell, a rain day or an early thaw doesn’t take the rink away. The tab geometry flexes with temperature swings, so seams stay tight without buckling.

How big can a municipal rink be?

Any size and any shape your site calls for. We draw your free layout to your exact space and show you how it fits before anything is built.

What does it need to sit on?

A flat, stable, hard base: asphalt, concrete, pavers or decking. Building on grass? We supply a subfloor that gives the rink the firm, level base it needs. Some outdoor sites need an underlayment layer and some don’t. We tell you which yours is before you budget.

Do we need specialized staff?

No ice technician and no refrigeration contract. Parks staff and seasonal hires can open, run and close it. We train your people during installation.

How do we take care of it?

Hose it down or pressure-wash it with a mild detergent (no bleach), then squeegee it dry. Don’t use mops. Fine shavings are normal; they’re part of what lets the blade glide.

Will it dull skates?

Skates need to be sharp. We recommend a 5/8″ radius, with a hand stone between machine sharpenings. Hockey stops wear blades faster than on ice, so C-turns and glide stops make a sharpening last longer.

What’s the warranty?

Every panel carries a 7-year warranty against manufacturing defects. We’ve never had a warranty claim.

Can the boards carry sponsors?

Yes. Board graphics and sponsor panels are a standard option, and a common way for cities to offset the cost of the rink.

What does it cost?

The price depends on your footprint and the options you choose. Every layout is different, so we don’t publish a price list. We quote after we design your free layout: send us your site and we’ll send you both, itemized line by line.

Is this the same surface as Super-Glide SLICK?

Yes. Global Synthetic Ice is the company, Super-Glide® is our surface platform, and SLICK is its current generation. Same people, same factory.
